Purchasing and accessing activities

Who can access and complete ADSA Learn activities?

Anyone can purchase and access activities on ADSA Learn. If you are not an ADSA member, you will have to create an ADSA Learn student account and log in with those details. You do not have to be a dietitian or registered with the HPCSA to create an ADSA Learn student account. Activities may be available at a reduced rate to ADSA members, and some limited activities may be available to ADSA members only.

How do I log into the platform?

If you are a registered ADSA member, log into the ADSA portal with your existing username and password. If you are not an ADSA member, you will have to create an ADSA Learn student account and log in with those details.

How do I purchase an activity?

How do I remove an item from my cart?

To remove something you no longer want in your basket, simply click on the red cross to the left of your product as seen in the below image:

How do I access an activity?

Make sure that you are logged in as an ADSA member or an ADSA Learn student member. You will find all activities that you have purchased under your ADSA Learn Profile. You can see all activities you have enrolled in, passed or failed, as well as access your certificates for completed activities.

Navigating the ADSA Learn Platform

Can I complete activities on my own time?

Yes. Unless you are watching a live webinar, all activities can be completed at your own pace. There is no time limit to complete an activity, but please keep in mind that the activity might expire within 1 year.

Can I see the content again after I have completed an activity?

Yes. After you have finished an activity, the ‘curriculum’ tab under the activity overview will give you access to the activity. Once you have passed a quiz, you will not be able to access the quiz content again. Downloading the key points are another way of making sure you remember important aspects.

How long will I be able to access an activity?

Some activities will expire after 1 year and we will notify you before an activity is removed from ADSA Learn. Other activities will be available for longer and will be updated periodically.

How do I get my certificate?

Your certificate will appear the moment that you finish an activity. You will also find it under your ADSA Learn Profile (make sure you are logged in). Note, it is for your own recordkeeping only, you do not have to submit it to the HPCSA for CEUs.

Assessment and quizzes

How do I pass a quiz?

You need a score of 70% to pass a quiz.

How many attempts do I have to pass a quiz?

You get a total of two attempts per quiz. If you have failed both, please contact us at adsalearn@adsa.org.za.

CPD

How do I get my CEUs?

If you are registered with the HPCSA and you have indicated so while registering on the platform, your CPD points will automatically be submitted to the HPCSA within 2 weeks after successfully completing an activity. If your CEUs are not reflecting within 1 month after you have passed an activity, please contact adsalearn@adsa.org.za.

Can I get CPD if I am not registered with the HPCSA?

If you are not registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, you can download your certificate after completing an activity and submit it to the professional body you are registered at to apply for CPD. Your certificate will include your full name and any professional number you have registered on the platform with, as well as the amount of CEUs that the activity is accredited for at the HPCSA.

Webinars

How do I access a live webinar?

Once you have purchased a webinar activity, you will find the activity under your ADSA Learn Profile (make sure you are logged in). On the right-hand side of the page, click on “Continue” to go to the first lesson, which will contain the link to the live webinar and all other necessary information. If you planned on attending a webinar live but can no longer attend, or you missed a part of the live webinar, you will still have access to the recording within 1 day after the live event.

How do I access a webinar recording?

Once you have purchased a webinar activity, you will find the activity under your ADSA Learn Profile (make sure you are logged in). On the right-hand side of the page, click on “Continue” to go to the first lesson, which will contain the link to the webinar recording and all other necessary information.

When should I complete the quiz?

It is recommended to complete the quiz as soon as possible after watching the webinar, live or recorded. But if not possible, you can still complete it for as long as the activity is available on the platform. Your CEUs will only be submitted once you have passed the quiz and completed the activity.

Where do I find the quiz for a webinar?

Once you have watched a webinar (live or recorded) you need to pass a quiz in order to complete the activity and obtain CEUs. You will find the activity under your ADSA Learn Profile (make sure you are logged in). Remember to click “complete” on the first lesson after the webinar has ended before proceeding with the multiple-choice questions.
