This activity consists of two journal articles on nutrition support: standards of practice compiled by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American Society for Parental and Enteral Nutrition, and a local study on nutritional support practices at an academic hospital ICU in South Africa.
The Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance can and should be used by registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) in nutrition support daily practice who provide care to individuals to consistently improve and appropriately demonstrate competence and value as providers of safe, effective, equitable, and quality nutrition and dietetics care and services. These standards also serve as a professional resource for self-evaluation and professional development for RDNs specializing in nutrition support practice.
